Project Car - Mitsubishi Evolution

Our first project car is the formidable Mitsubishi Evolution.

We choose to use products from Vishnu Tuning based in California for three reasons. Firstly, they are a company who can provide defined stages of upgrade. Secondly, their products are of the highest quality, with excellent after sales support which has proved second to none. Lastly, through our meetings and dealings with their CEO Shiv Pathak, we particularly appreciate his no-nonsense approach to tuning.

First up, we needed a method of changing the parameters of the engine. The ChipTorque "Xede" that is available through Vishnu Tuning was an ideal choice. Once installed it allowed us to start to alter crucial areas of the factory ECU output signals including timing, MAF fueling, boost and knock sensitivity, and all with the stroke of a few laptop keys.

Next we needed to open up the exhaust tract. The restrictive  factory exhaust system from the catalytic converter back was replaced with a Vishnu signature series 3" stainless steel item.

The next obvious bottleneck that needed to be eliminated was the downpipe and catalytic converter. This was taken care of with the Vishnu signature series 3" downpipe and test pipe.

More recently we have added a Walbro fuel pump, HKS 272 intake 272 exhaust cams and Vishnu adjustable cam gears.

A regularly updated database of base maps is provided on the website of Vishnu Tuning. From these, an appropriate choice can be retrieved. It is then a simple task to upload this to the Xede. This map will form the base from which we can fine tune our car on our dyno.

Most people feel bad about bringing their work home with them, but we make this personal sacrifice gladly!  We see it as staying in touch with what our customers want - a big grin on their faces when they get out of the car!
